Award winning chamber music series
Named by the Contra Costa Times as “Best East Bay Chamber Group,” the Gold Coast Chamber Players features internationally renowned musicians whose travels have taken them to concert venues in Jordan, Israel, Italy, Germany, France, and throughout the United States. The Gold Coast Chamber Players draws many of its core members from the San Francisco Symphony, Opera, and Ballet Orchestras, as well as ensembles throughout the greater Bay Area. Additionally, guest artists from around the world are regularly featured at Gold Coast concerts.
Founded by clarinetist Tony Striplen, and violist/Artistic Director, Pamela Freund-Striplen, Gold Coast Chamber Players originally began with salon concerts in private homes. As its reputation developed, Gold Coast expanded to venues throughout Contra Costa County such as St. Mary’s College, Lafayette’s Town Hall Theatre and Veterans Memorial Building. In 2009, Gold Coast Chamber Players found an ideal home venue in the Lafayette Library’s Community Hall, a beautiful new theater.
Gold Coast musicians are dedicated to education, and have brought concerts to nearly every public school in Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda with their outreach program. These programs feature an engaging historical context as well as full performances of upcoming concert repertoire. Described by Lafayette City Manager Steven Falk as “cultural pioneers,” the Gold Coast Chamber Players are devoted to the art of chamber music and are committed to sharing their passion with the community…for twenty-five years and counting.
