How long have you been in business?
Creative Environments was started back in 1979 because there was a need in the market place for a custom pool builder that cared not only about the swimming pool but also about the backyard environment as a total entertainment and lifestyle "Creative Environments". Chuck Baumann, the owner of Creative Environments, was raised in the swimming pool business here in the Tri-Valley area and has more than 60 years of personal working experience in the swimming pool industry here in the Bay Area.
What is your primary product or service?
Custom building swimming pools and helping to design and developing "Backyard Entertainment Areas" is what Creative Environments does better than most builder around the country. Creative Environments has won over 50 national and international design and construction awards.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Over 60 years ago, my father started a swimming pool construction business in Lafayette, Ca. I was blessed to work with my dad as a small boy. This early experienced proved to be a great training ground as I then started my first pool company when I was 16 years old servicing pools from The Blackhawk Ranch to the hills of Orinda. When I returned from my obligations of service to my country in 1969, I joined my uncle in a pool company that he started in Lafayette. He and I became partners until 1979, when I started Creative Environments. At 65 years old I can't see an end to my career and plan on designing and building swimming pools until my last day on earth…..
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Creative, one of a kind designs….. a personal touch by the owner of the company on each and ever job I build, 60 years of knowledge and experience that is second to none… the pride of craftsmanship that comes from my Swiss Emigrant Father as he passed it on from one generation to the next…. Passion for what I get to do each and every day of my life….. Never building the same pool twice, that is, in 36 years I have never built the same pool twice…. I have designed and built over 1,400 swimming pools and water features here in the San Francisco Bay Area.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I have done it all over the years…. owned two retail pool stores, operated a full service devision, managed and built large aquatic features such a lakes and large fountains…. I have had as many as 50 full time employees working for me to build aquatic features and maintain them…. today I have learned to more efficient and selective with my time…. I build approximately 15 projects a year and remodel about 5-10 pool as well. This is as good as it gets for me…

Creative Environments builds custom projects throughout the SF Bay Area. I have never found a project that we couldn't build. If we have a willing client then we will find a way to build their Backyard Entertainment Area

Creative Environments was founded by Chuck Baumann. Chuck still designs, sells and manages each and every job Creative Environments builds.
What are your hours of operation?
7:30 to 6:00 Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 5:00 on Saturday

"The Lord helps them that help themselves"….. I live by this daily…. you only get out of life what you put in it…. I have been blessed in my life with a wonderful wife of 30 years, 4 great children and a God given talent to do what I love to do….
